The DVLA have announced changes to 2019 Road Fund Licence Charges

From the 1st April 2019 the lovely government has introduced new tax bands for all vehicles.
Originally road tax was calculated by the CO2 emissions, more emissions, more tax, simple. 2019 the new VED tax bands are a little more complicated. Sub £40K and zero emissions will cost nothing (surcharge). Over £40K list price a surcharge for the first 5 years will be £310, which also applies to hybrid and electric.

It is also worth noting that more vehicle options will increase the list price, so just keep this in mind.

The first-year rates on new cars will rise in line with the retail price index, meaning increases of up to £65 for the most polluting models. The supplement on cars with a list price of over £40,000 will also rise to £320 per year on for five years. The below table shows the new charges for brand-new cars.

The Government is offering a Direct Debit and six-month options to make everything more affordable, but as always, going down this route there will be a small increase, but maybe worth it as spreading the cost could be more beneficial to the person that's budgeting.

All electric and hybrid cars, registered after April 2017 and are under £40,000 will be free!

When leasing your vehicle with Regal, the new road tax/VED this will be factored in when we prepare your quotations so there will not be any surprises.
